As far as layout goes, you've pretty much nailed it, it's nice, structured, easy to navigate. I like it!
Speaking as a graphic designer, it could use a coat of paint.
But! As isnow the for um is not functional due to size limitations.
Most stories are around 20 k words.
I tried to post one and got the message max 8 k words.
A Viable workaround would be to allow users to upload pdfs or txt files.
The forum as is now, is neither suitable for sharing comics, animations or comics as they exceed the file limit.
So the limit has to be fixed somehow. I remember people used to host sites like this from their own computers, so it can't be that demanding.
I would advise against game mods and ai since it will eat up too much space.
Besides you can get those from lots of other places.
What the ATF refugees need is a continued community, where we can talk, share and create.
If I can help with anything visually, don't be afraid to ask.

Re: Making the forum functional
I made it take txt and pdf up to 6Mb. should be enough to post Harry Potter in a txt file... a lot less in a pdf but size are set per file type

Re: Making the forum functional
Aside from some of the things already mentioned by others, is there a way you can add a simple like / thumbs-up type option to posts?
So in that way it's another form of engagement and to perhaps gage interest, and it would take up less size, space, help keep things less cluttered than making replies to posts where a simple like / thumbs-up would do.
Thanks again for this site.

Could you increase it to 10?
My comics are about that size, each about 40 pages.
With those limitations fixed. This forum, the way it's structured, seems like the best viable option for recreating ATF.

I vote for thumbs up too. Some people not feeling themselves confident to say something, especially just useless "cool", "nice!" comments. While for the artists it is important to get quantitative feedback is he/she doing art in right way.Mystix wrote: Mon Mar 23, 2026 11:24 am Aside from some of the things already mentioned by others, is there a way you can add a simple like / thumbs-up type option to posts?

Here is a phpBB plugin for reactions which is under active development.Mystix wrote: Mon Mar 23, 2026 11:24 am is there a way you can add a simple like / thumbs-up type option to posts?
Here's another one which is abandoned but might still work. (Works with 3.3.14)
I would also like to make a suggestion: Multiquote is a feature on ATF which I find useful.
Re: Making the forum functional
If it is possible, better to choose version which doesn't require Javascript. PhpBB is friendly to non-javascript environment itself, and some users here are sitting from Tor, where JS is disabled for default. Probably also once the whole board will be forced to move into Tor.AnonCat wrote: Tue Mar 24, 2026 3:06 amHere is a phpBB plugin for reactions which is under active development.Mystix wrote: Mon Mar 23, 2026 11:24 am is there a way you can add a simple like / thumbs-up type option to posts?

With JS required some users will omit to put likes, especially lurkers. While JS-required multi-quoting is optional thing (one javascript hater just could emulate it with copy-pasting from several quoted-answers), liking is very important behavior for the community, which haven't to survive through any complications.

well, I added the multi quote that adds using js... I don't quite like it but well. not like it will break anything if you don't run JS.fibo wrote: Tue Mar 24, 2026 9:04 am If it is possible, better to choose version which doesn't require Javascript.
I tried to add the reaction one (kinda like ATF with different possibilities) but got an error, so I changed it to a simpler "Like" button.Mystix wrote: Mon Mar 23, 2026 11:24 am Aside from some of the things already mentioned by others, is there a way you can add a simple like / thumbs-up type option to posts?

What's the max file size for videos / mp4 files?76zzz29 wrote: Mon Mar 23, 2026 10:26 am I made it take txt and pdf up to 6Mb. should be enough to post Harry Potter in a txt file... a lot less in a pdf but size are set per file type
If the limit isn't too small then was thinking I might upload some of my short animations / vids.
