Turned out, the email where blocked by the FAI because by default exiting SMTP request are blocked by the box.
Still working on it but may finally start to see some progress soon.

They not super consistent about it


They just apply the law about it. As long as it's not reported, it's not removed. They don't have to go hunt it down and this way they can't be taken responsible of its existence while letting people share it for as long as it's not reported.

Working on fixing the mail problem.
On a side note, if you used a real email like Protonmail, I can manually send the password reset mail.

On the left side when loged in. click "My Profile" and on the 1st list of information, there is "Class: user" if you have a limited account and "Class: Fallen" if you have a full access.

because it's only for topic, not subforum.
For example, you could follow "follow topics" but not "Feedback & Support" as a whole.

Just be active on the forum. post things, comments,… if you get enough validated post, it change on its own

It's not written anywhere. I didn't edit as it's a default setting of phpBB I just use it. I know it automatically switch people from new user to user at some point. And that I need to validate every new user's post outside of the presentation. I have no idea how it work as I didn't look for it. it ...

I ask for PM to get access because it's already limited to validated people. So even if you ask there instead, I would have to go and check your profile's status instead. Useless added work.
Beside, most of it is avaible with just an account
